Over $10,000 was raised at the 22nd Annual Herb Bradley Coca Cola Classic, which took place at Mt Washington on Sunday, February 7th. The fun race, MC’d as usual by Gordie Tupper, has teams of four, and includes students involved in the Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snowsports.
Teams “guesstimate” their total race time. The winning teams this year were
1st - East Cider Orchard , Denman Island; 2nd - Comox Rotary. 3rd - Power to Be from Victoria. The fastest individual skier was Tobias Berg of East Cider Orchard Team. The best Wipeout went to Basil Petropoulas from Duncan - snowboarding with the Comox Rotary Team, and the Team Spirit Award went to Falcon Electric from Powell River.
Zachary Doberstein from Black Creek, who skied with the winning team, was
also presented with the Spirit of Herb Bradley Trophy for the most improvement during the Learn to Ski Festival which was held in January.
This race is the major fundraiser for the program which teaches students with various disabilities to ski and snowboard. VISAS would like to thank all those who took part.
